The Nightmare of History

For many reasons I have resumed writing my book centred on the Magical Battle of Britain and Dion Fortune. It looks into the background of both world wars, seeing the roots of 1940 in the first decade of the century.

I shall be publishing some teaser extracts over the coming months before hopefully delivering the finished result next year.

On February 28th 1900, barely into the New Year and century, there were serious discussions in France concerning a possible invasion of Britain. The two nations were the main players in the so-called ‘Scramble for Africa’ and they had recently almost come to blows in 1898 in the Sudan. France wanted Britain to accept her takeover of Morocco. Britain wanted her sphere of influence in Egypt and the Sudan left alone. Britain was involved in the deeply unpopular Boer War and was being heavily criticised by Germany on behalf of some of her citizens caught up in it. France tried to cultivate Germany against Britain. A conflict spanning the globe was envisaged. Maybe an expedition to Egypt a century or so after Napoleon? Burma could be attacked from French Indo China. Maybe the Russians could be persuaded to attack India? Britain’s biggest issue in Foreign Policy was the ‘Great Game’ with Russia that was played out on the borders of India and in China. Clearly, international relations were somewhat mutable considering that, within a decade, Britain and France would be locked into an alliance with Russia that led them into the catastrophic war against Germany. This all helps to intensify the sense of the horror of 1914 and underline Gurdjieff’s estimation of the human race as sleepwalkers.

Midsummer Glastonbury Sun

Here is a Glastonbury version of the Thoth tarot Sun card. It has been painted by Yuri Leitch to my design, substituting Glastonbury Tor for the hill in the original and the signs of the alleged landscape zodiac for the usual depictions.

The image is intended to form the core of the cover for a new version of the classic seventies anthology, Glastonbury: Ancient Avalon, New Jerusalem, featuring an extensive introduction from me dealing with Earth Mysteries Ufology.

It should hopefully surface by the end of 2013.

This projected cover is an echo and upgrade from the original version.

It has been a great pleasure to initiate and fulfill the dynamic of the creation of this image with Yuri and the writing of my intro between Beltaine and the Solstice.

Circle of Perpetual Choirs Free Glastonbury lecture

Saturday March 2nd. Tor Sports and Leisure Centre, Street Road, Glastonbury, BA6 9EF

15:00 -16:00

Part of a weekend Glastonbury Mystic & Earth Spirit Fayre event that includes other free presentations.

According to Welsh Triads, Glastonbury was one of a group of sites where sacred chant was once continually intoned. Earth Mysteries visionary John Michell intuited a geometric relationship between the locations and went on to discuss a circle of perpetual choirs centred round White Leaved Oak in the Malvern Hills. I will discuss this idea in the full knowledge that it is historically very dubious but nonetheless possesses great power to move and inspire.
The material in this presentation will be included in my next book, Aquarian Phoenix. The above illustration by Yuri Leitch is just one example of the fine artwork that it will feature.

Signs and Secrets of the Glastonbury Zodiac

It is my great pleasure to announce an imminent new book from Avalonian Aeon Publications.

Signs & Secrets of the Glastonbury Zodiac is an anthology featuring work from myself, Glastonbury artist Yuri Leitch (responsible for my book covers), and a number of other talented, inspired people, mainly local to the area. Bonuses include a piece by noted maverick researcher Hank Harrison, and a previously unpublished piece by the woman that started it all, Katharine Maltwood (made possible by researcher Anthony Thorley).

This post is just a teaser. Plenty more details to follow, along with the book itself, probably no later than March.

After a hermetically sealed 2012, with very little activity on my websites, expect plenty in 2013. My own Aquarian Phoenix is well on the way.
